The purpose and intent of this essay is to look into the claims of two sides, those who believe the Christian Messiah, Jesus, was a historical figure and those who do not. My intent is not to prove or disprove the claims of both sides, nor to present if the religious claims attributed to him are real or not, as the religious aspect is not what we will examine, but more of an historical approach. I will present cases from scholars representing different backgrounds, Jewish, Islamic, Christian and secular, all scholars that will be cited are well respected within their field and the academic world.
